On a weight loss diet or keeping track of calories, but missing Starbucks? These are the BEST low calorie Starbucks drinks to choose from, including over 12 homemade recipes!

low calorie starbucks drinks

When I first started my low calorie diet, I thought I had to give up some of my favorite things.

My typical diet wasn’t bad per se- it just included too many calorie-dense foods and drinks that I actually thought were healthy.

Instead of cutting out those foods and drinks, I simply made low calorie version of them. I’d have a low calorie bagel for breakfast, pasta for lunch, and even low calorie pizza for dinner. For drinks, though, I still maintained my daily Starbucks habit, but choosing low calorie options!

Starbucks and a low calorie diet

Starbucks is truly a coffee chain that caters for ALL diets. You’ll find their standard range of food and beverages, but also ways to tweak them to be low carb, dairy free, and now, low calorie.

With a few smart swaps, you can enjoy vanilla lattes, frappuccinos, and other blended or flavored beverages with half the calories and sugar. Whether you like hot drinks or iced drinks, you’ll be covered.

How to order low calorie Starbucks drinks?

All of the Starbucks beverages can easily be made low calorie with a few smart swaps-

  • Choose non-fat or dairy free beverages. Not-fat milk and almond milk both have very low calories, over half the calories of full fat milk.
  • Request sugar free syrups. For a grande sized coffee, there are four pumps of syrup. Each pump has 20 calories, that adds 80 calories per drink. By switching to the sugar free syrup, you cut all the calories from it completely.
  • Opt for black tea and coffee. Most of us enjoy the notion of a iced or hot beverage. By choosing unsweetened tea or coffee, you’ll be looking at less than 5 calories per serving.
