Nonprofit fighting food insecurity receives $3 million in federal funding

Brooklyn nonprofit Campaign In opposition to Hunger is receiving assistance after it claims its distribution center was working out of food items.  

The nonprofit, which performs to battle food insecurity, suggests that the pandemic introduced on cuts to city distribution of food stuff.  

“There is no grain. We just requested grain, and it was unbelievable. We will not have enough food to previous us a week. That’s how terrible it is,” said Dr. Melony Samuels, government director and founder of Marketing campaign Versus Starvation.  

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries declared currently that the nonprofit would receive $3 million in federal funding to help their bring about.  

“You have been there ahead of the pandemic, you absolutely ended up there for our communities for the duration of the pandemic, and we are likely to make guaranteed that you have the resources to continue getting there for our communities forever,” said Jeffries.  

Marketing campaign From Hunger says the dollars will go toward its new website — a just one-stop shop for staff members to grow foods, distribute food and create careers and youth-run applications. 

“When family members simply cannot put foodstuff on their tables it’s quite tricky, and it is really tricky to notify people this is all that we have to give you. We’re hoping that this foods hub will be a permanent fixture in our community, but it will be an icon of positivity,” said Samuels.
